OUR MISSION

As observed in Mother Nature, molecular assembly is a driving force in obtaining functional molecules. Such functions embedded in self-assembled structures are fascinating from the viewpoint of material development, whereas the correlation between assembled structures and their functions is unclear. Our mission is to figure out this challenging area (i.e., hidden depths of icebergs) through interdisciplinary research.

PROLOGUE

The Sasaki Research Group is working on experimental chemistry. When we encounter unexpected results or a phenomenon that we have never seen before during an experiment, such experiences cause the feeling that we are the only people on Earth who know about the cutting edge of the world and that we may be stepping into a new research field. When I was a Ph.D. candidate, I had a precious experience when I encountered a phenomenon for the first time during an experiment, which led me to aspire to academia. Now I have taken up the baton to pass on the excitement of research to the next generation. I look forward to the day when I can share the excitement of research with you.
